NaTIS Licensing Legislation and Procedures (NLLP) Course

The NaTIS Licensing Legislation and Procedures (NLLP) Course is a one-year eLearning course presented for the Institute of Licence Officials of Southern Africa (ILO).

This course is based on distance education principles and makes use of formal in-service training. The learners learn at their own speed, and are never absent from the workplace due to training. Accommodation and transport costs associated with training are cut out and most importantly, service delivery is not compromised.

The course deals with the theory of licensing from the registration and licensing of motor vehicles, to learners’ and driving licences, and to roadworthiness certification. This course is therefore suitable for all staff at registering authorities, driving licence test centres and vehicle testing stations.

Minimum software requirements

The minimum software requirements for accessing the course are:

  • Windows 95
  • Internet Explorer 5.5
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader (included on the CD)

How the course works

Upon registration and payment of the course fees, the learner is sent a CD that must be downloaded onto a PC. This CD contains modules that include all of the information the learner will require for the course. These may be printed out to study or viewed on screen. The CD also contains a series of self-assessment tests.

Outcomes

After working through the training programme, learners would be able to:

  • Explain the relevant concepts
  • Interpret the National Road Traffic Act (no. 93 of 1996) and National Road Traffic Regulations
  • Cope with queries from members of the public
